Found the forum on Google and am hoping that maybe someone can figure out what may be my issue.
Last night, I was playing Stepmania (v5.0) on my XP laptop with the pad. Everything worked fine and at the end of the night, shut down my laptop, disconnected my pad from the adapter, and store it aside. Today, I went to use the pad and for some odd reason, none of the buttons work. I verified the connected - my laptop was showing the device connected (EMS USB game controller was showing a device - the pad) and I was able to go into set up, but even there, when i stepped on a button, nothing. I'm not quite sure what to do. I tried uninstalling/restarting/reinstalling and connecting the USB - It finds the device every time, but nothing responds. EMS USB adapter is set to PC as it should be (and the light is lit) - tried different USB ports - NOTHING!
I really want to get back into Stepmania with the pad but I'm out of ideas. Any information or feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Please inform us the followings. 1. Could EMS USB2 be detected in the "game options" in "control panel" ? 2. In "control panel" -> "game options", does it response to the buttons of the controller.
note - please remember to set to switch of EMS USB2 to "PC" - if possible, test it with a PSX joypad. If one port of the adaptor doesn't work, test another. (don't forget to disconnect and reconnect the adaptor from/to PC)

Hi Hkems, thanks for your response.
The controller does show up under game controller options. however, the buttons do not respond in it. I'll have to try using PSX joypad and see if that works. Unfortunately, I can't test my pad on a different device - All I have is other machines using Win 7 x64 bit. Will give it a try and let you know. Thanks again!

Not sure what application PSX Joypad is, can't seem to find a direct link. I discovered that you can actually flip the adapter and can plug it either way. I might have connected it upside down. Checking it out now.

Alright, so i tried the dance pad into the ems adapter several different ways and still nothing. I'm not 100% sure, but I read somewhere if unplugged incorrectly, it could possibly mess up the ems usb adapter? I'm willing to replace it before the pad itself, but is there a way to test the pad?
Btw, it does show up under "game controllers" as a 4 axis 16 button device. but when I go to properties to test it, nothing responds.
What do you think?

PSX Joypad is not a application. I am talking about the controller (joypad) for sony playstation 2. If possible, please test the EMS USB2 with a PS2 controller, on a XP computer. Please remember to set the switch to "PC".

Hey, finally have an update. I didn't have a spare controller so I bought a cheap one. That responds perfectly fine... so I guess it could be my pad then That's bothersome. Thanks for your help HKems.
