I'm using Windows XP SP3 (32 bit)
When I plug in the adapter, it lights up and windows finds new hardware. However, no matter what I do, it does not recognize the driver as being valid. If I try to do it automatically, it doesn't find the driver, and if I try to manually select the driver, it says
"the specified location does not contain information about your hardware"

We have just tested this driver again on XP sp3, and there is no problem. Was that your first time to install EMS driver on your PC ? I mean, were there any old EMS driver on your PC when you install this driver ? Normally, you should un-install old driver before you install new driver, or it may cause driver crush. Thanks (10-25)

No this was the first time. Using the ones without that modification it wouldn't recognize the driver as being made for the USB device.
Only after that modification did it work.
I tried (and had the same problem) on 3 separate XP SP3 machines. 2 desktops and one laptop.

Two of them were.
BTW I asked at a few tech boards, and their answer upon seeing the before and after, is that they can't imagine the one supplied working on any computer as the ClassGUID is required for it to work properly.

I just want to add, I posted about this problem on another message board asking for help. When I found the fix I posted about here, I also shared it there.
Someone on 32bit Windows 7 said they had the same problem as me, and my fixed file corrected it for them as well, so this is not limited to Windows XP.

OMG - THANK YOU SO SO MUCH for releasing the modded version. HKems' original driver made me going nuts. I tried everything but nothing worked. Now I tried your modded version and it works like a charm.
Again: thank you!
Using: Windows 7 32bit and 64bit - works on both systems

How exactly did you get the windows 64 OS to accept this modded version? I keep getting a no driver signature error. So I am getting by in test mode and then it works. I do not want to keep doing this as it is a pain.

Yes. That is what I am using. It is a pain switching back and forth from test to normal every time I need to save or restore. Thanks

You only need to do that once, when you install the driver.

I do not find that true. It works and only works in test mode. Once I return to normal mode the driver is rejected again as unsigned.
