For some reason my LCD Topgun will not work at all. I have searched high and low and your company doesn't provide any helpful information. I have many questions. How do you hook up the usb cables to the pc correctly?(The pictures aren't very helpful) What does the gun2mouse program do? Why do I get a error message that says cannot open LCD link when I try to use the tester? How come my pc can't install the hardware from the provided disk? How does the driver work?(Do I need to run gun2mouse in order for it to work?)
Like I said your company provides very poor, general information that is not specific to the actual installation of the LCDTopgun or its driver.
Please help I would like to use this product and have waited along time to recieve it.
THANX

Chris you need to install drivers to make the gun work (like when you plug a new printer or scanner into your computer). The drivers from the CD should work but also other people make drivers that seem to work well are here xoomer.alice.it/guncon2/Install those BEFORE plugging in your guns (if you have already plugged in your guns you may want to consult with someone who is familiar with uninstalling drivers and devices if the drivers from the above site don't work well). Best of luck! EMS I have a question for you: Due to the size of my screen I have my bars on top and bottom instead of sides of the screen. Do you recommend any particular position for them (ie red light on top, on botton, with red light to the right or left) to get the best response? It is hard for me to move them around without damanging my walls/screen so an answer is appreciated.

Hello devedander You could mount the LED stands horizontally as the following picture : wizardsworks.org/chod/gun/horizontal.jpgFor this setting, during hardware calibration, please shoot the following in this order: 1. Top right LED set 2. Center of the screen 3. Top left corner of your screen 4. Top right corner of your screen 5. Bottom right corner of your screen 6. Bottom left corner of your screen This setting is tested to be workable perfectly . The above information comes from this guide : www.wizardsworks.org/chod/gun/topgun.htm

Hi,
I would just like to ask if the LED lights on the stands should light up when I connect them to the PS2. Currently, only the power on/off light is lit. Will this affect the calibration of my gun or accuracy of shooting?
Thanks in advance for any help =)

Hello Joanna The 5 sets of the LEDs on the two stands are Infrared LEDs, which is not visible by human eye. It is normal, and it would not affect the calibration. By the way, you should able to see the infrared lights with the camera on your mobile phone. On the LED stands, the only visible LED is the red one, which would indicate if the power is ON.

Hi EMS,
I recently bought 2 of your topguns and seem to be having some issues running them with on the PS2.
I have a strange problem where it appears as if the aiming area has been scaled down from my actual TV. So, if I am at the extremities, the calibration reticle (such as in Time Crisis 2) is a few cm in from the edge. If I try to move further to compensate, the reticle disappears altogether.
This makes hitting enemies at the edge impossible. Strangely, this problem only happens with the PS2, as with the Xbox I can aim at the edges fine.
Do you have any suggestions as to what may be causing this? I have tried both guns, with either LED sets and the same problem arises.

Also, I should note that I have tried shooting outside of the TV to try and compensate when calibrating, but that seems to result in the gun not working altogether, and shooting at the screen after calibration do nothing (although it registers the shot with a flash, but will not hit inside the screen).

hi Miles Please check if there are any kind of interruption beside the screen. May be there are some kind of interruption near the edges, thus the TopGun would not work when you aim near the edge. Thanks.

Hi EMS,
Thank you for such a prompt reply. I have tried to ensure that there is no interference, and have even played in complete darkness (apart from the TV) to try and eliminate interference.
Do you know if the topgun has issues playing on Pal TVs as opposed to NTSC TVs? As Pal has a greater resolution, the topgun may be trying to calibrate based upon NTSC, and perhaps that is why the the aiming area is scaled down from my actual TV size.

Well, NTSC / PAL is the same for TopGun.
As long as your game and console are compatible with your NTSC / PAL TV, this would not be a problem for TopGun.

Hi EMS I have just recieved my TopGun and am unable to get it working Basically their doesnt seem to be any light signal or laser coming from the gun, is it faulty? The LED bars show the red power light and the recoil on the gun works fine when connected to the PC. But running the tester application I dont get any effect on the screen. And PC locks up sometimes. Setup ##### - TopGun light gun with standard LED stands, mounted vertically on 50" Plamsa tv. - Gun set to PC format and connected to the USB sockets on the PC as shown in the online manual - Wireless keyboard and mouse (which screw up when I connect the USB gun, but fine when the LED Stands are in) - HP 1180.uk PC, 2Ghz AMD, 512MB RAM, 256GfxRAM Any suggestions? Im dying to try this out on Rainbox Six on my PC!

Hello wildmalc For your case, it could be driver problem. Have you installed the driver ? Could you find the gun in the "device manager" ? By the way, our TopGun could only support Gun Shooting games like "House of the dead 2&3". It could not support those First Personal Shooting games (FPS games) like "rainbox six". To answer your question more effectively, please send an email to sales@hkems.com. Our co-worker will reply your email and help you to solve the problem at once. Thanks.
